Who knew something simple could erupt into something chaotic so quickly? A broken file cabinet forced us to purchase a new one. We found one online, ordered it and it arrived quickly with a do it yourself assembly book, complete with 24 part packages and 18 steps of instructions!
As we unpacked the items and compared with the instruction book, we realized a part was missing. Customer service was called, a replacement part was quickly received. Except, the screws did not fit into the holes on the replacement part. We tried again, received another part, same issue.
Meanwhile, the 24 packages of parts are spread out on my living room floor, customer service does not understand my issue, they asked for photos which were sent and now we are again, waiting for a part.
It seems every project faces the inevitable delay. My work place is undergoing a floor remodel. Upheaval, dust, packing, lots of inconvenience and depending on the work crew's schedule dictate the next few weeks. Times like this although not disastrous, can bring stress and upheaval to our lives.
As we walk through inconveniences or life's challenges, there are a few things we can do to navigate through smoothly.
Psalms 94:19 states - "In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul."
Acknowledge what makes us anxious and look to God's promises.
Find what we naturally do. Routine tasks in the midst of chaos can bring a calmness and normality to the day. Keep moving, using your God-given gifts. Shifting our mindset from problems to trust calms our heart and brings peace to minds. Pouring from our purpose keeps our hands busy. What daily things have to be done? An encouragement from Colossians 3:23 - "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men."
Everyone has a gift or area they excel at. When we purpose to use these gifts and abilities, we become a blessing to others. When we think of others, our minds dim to the problems and struggles we are facing and extend the grace of God around us.
I Peter 4:10 - "As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."
From chaos, to looking to God and using what He has placed inside of us, we will walk through this. Only, it will not just be our power, but God's abundant grace that will work something beautiful through it.
2 Corinthians 9:8 "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
