Today's At the Well is sure to get the week moving in the right direction. The discussion is "The Most High" and the questions to ponder are:
Who or What is most high in your mind and heart today?
Is it the Most High or someone or something else?
Is it the Most High or someone or something else?
Numerous times in the Psalms God is referred to as The Most High. I love reading these verses as it puts God in His rightful place - above all. It stirs up praise and adoration in the heart as we place Him over everything. Here are a few verses:
I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness,
And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
For the Lord Most High is awesome;
He is a great King over all the earth.
I will cry out to God Most High,
To God who performs all things for me.
Truly God is over all and is worthy of all our adoration and praise! But many times the sights and sounds of our daily life clamor for first place. How do we keep the Most High - high up in our lives?
The importance of a daily quiet time cannot be emphasized enough. This is nourishment and strength for our soul. Time spent in prayer equips us for the day, time spent reading God's Word gives us direction and guidance and daily partaking in this daily time brings growth and maturing as Christians.
But as our physical food wears off and we need refueling, we need to keep a constant supply of spiritual food nearby through our day. Surrounding ourselves with things of the Lord, keeps our focus on Him and keeps Him lifted up. Making the best choice through the day in our music, reading material and conversation can help bring the godly perspective to our thoughts and actions. Our world today bombards us with its influence which places other high up. Keeping our choices on things that honor God keeps Him - The Most High - all through our day!

Enjoyed both of your posts today...I am going to seek out bite size bits of joy this week...and savor them for what they are - instead of regarding them as "guilty pleasures" when I should have been doing something else! A great motivation for this Monday - THANKS!
ReplyDeleteSo true spending time in Godsword and surrounding us with thigs of the Lord......

amen amen amen..oh this was filled with SO many truths..thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteConsistent quiet time is consistent praise time for God! I really enjoyed your post!
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to get so caught up in living that we forget the One who has given us life!
ReplyDeleteI'm learning how to cut out the noise so that I can hear Him more clearly. When I turn off the radio and TV and shut down the computer (gasp!), I'm always able to hear him MUCH more clearly.
Thank you for the reminder. I enjoyed my visit with you today.
Daily time feasting on the Word of God is so very important to the spiritual well-being of every believer. Thank you for sharing that!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you joined us At the Well today!
Blessings,
Jenifer
You are so right that the choices we make throughout the day in our thoughts, music, reading material etc., either help or hinder the position of where we place God in our lives. If He is the most High, or choices will honor Him.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
