Today is known by Christians around the world as "Good Friday". It is a day where we remember the sacrifice of Jesus' death on the cross and the "good" comes as we remember His atonement, redemption and forgiveness of our sins. I wanted to reflect on a few verses of Scripture today to remind myself of God's grace.
We are all sinners (Romans 3:23), but God in His mercy provided a way for us to be pure and clean:
“ Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “ Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18
Jesus death on the cross was for each one of us:
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed". Isaiah 53:5
He has given us new life and forgiveness of our sins:
“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:16 - 24.
May the Word of God fill our hearts with thanksgiving, joy and and a desire to walk in obedience and grace always.
