"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you." John 15:16
It always overwhelms me when I read and am reminded that Jesus chose each of us. He gave His life for each of us as it is told in Scripture, "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us...". Even though we had no desire to know Him, He chose us and then with His love drew us to Him, and when we accepted His free gift of salvation He filled us with His love and His Holy Spirit.
He also appointed and expects us to be fruitful. Being fruitful should encompass a life filled with the Fruit of the Spirit - "for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth" and consistently striving to overflow God's goodness into the lives of others. A Christian should seek to live a lifestyle of graciousness, extending love, kindness, compassion with wisdom to others.
But the best news is that when we seek the Lord in prayer, He promises to hear and to answer. And His answer is always right and always exactly what we need.
