It is such a comfort and blessing to me that God does not see me as man sees me through the outward appearance. He doesn't care if I am wearing the right clothes or have the right make up on or am in a good or bad mood, the Lord looks upon the heart.
Truly this is "the heart of the matter". What our hearts are filled with becomes evident in our words, actions and attitudes. God can see past the outward look we can put on, and see past to our deepest need, desire and longings. He can see the good, the bad and the ugly. There is nothing hidden from Him.
He doesn't just see us, but there is a work that only He can do in our hearts. He can take the undesirable weeds that may have planted in our hearts, pluck them out and fill our hearts with His goodness. He can pluck out weeds of discontentment, bitterness, jealousy, criticism and any other ugly weeds which may find it's way into the heart.
He alone can replace the ugly weeds with the beauty of His fruit - love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. His goodness is genuine, and will shine through our lives in our smiles, kind words, warm and thoughtful actions, etc.Truly this is "the heart of the matter". Thank God for His ability to look beyond our outward appearance straight into where that all we are begins. Thank God that He alone can change our hearts!
A timely and beautiful word today:-) I had originally thought of the butterfly to use in my post. That's how it is with WFW participants, sometimes. Many of us get on the same "wavelength."
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I pray that I can look at the heart of others too.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful words spoken here sweetie.
ReplyDeleteThis was great!
ReplyDeleteYes, only God can see past the outward.
I want my heart to be right before Him always.
Happy WFW♥
Very beautiful, thank God He looks on our hearts and for His wonderful gifts to us.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful picture and a great scripture. I'm so glad God looks at our heart and not our outward appearance. He alone knows who we are and what we need.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
AliceE.
So true, so wonderful, and sometimes, so hard to have those layers removed and refined. Great post.
ReplyDeleteFYI - when I clicked on your link originally, it didn't come to your page (blogspot didn't have the "o' in it. If you re-entered your site information, ignore this! :)
And if I would have scrolled a little further, i would have noticed it you had corrected it! :)
ReplyDeleteDelighted to meet you! I found you via WFW. Such a joy to be splashed in God's word by you.

Wonderful verse. Cultivating our hearts is critical (out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, guard your heart with all diligence...) A timely word! :~D
ReplyDeleteAmen & Blessings! Awesome butterfly & Scripture verse! Inspirational thoughts on being weeded & our hearts appearance not our outward appearance! Thanks for this WORD & your visit to my Amazing Grace blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a great verse and sweet insight. And thanks for stopping by my site and leaving a comment on my picture of the door. Instead Jesus stands at the door and knocks. If any man will open to Him, He will come in and sup!
ReplyDeleteI would like to invite you to join me for my on-line Bible study on the book of Ephesians entitled High Stepping for Heavenly Places. We will begin the study on Sept. 24th. You can get details on my blog at http://jeanstockdale.typepad.com.
My study for MOMMAS is non-denominational and designed to help MOMS of toddlers, tweens, teens, and all the way through turning 'em loose! You will be able to view my 45 minute lectures on-line, as well as download my PODCASTS at no cost. My workbook styled book is available at www.jeanstockdale.com for $15.00 but this is optional and not required to participate.
