Word Filled Wednesday

"Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

At a recent workshop at his job, my husband came home sharing the differences in people as it relates to how they handle and complete tasks. The leader told the group there were two categories: the "Get It Done" group and the "Do It Right" group. Most people are one or the other, but usually not both.

One of the unique challenges in our marriage is that he is a "Do It Right", type while I am a "Get It Done" person. It took a while to appreciate the differences in our work styles. He does not complete as many things as I do, but what he does is done to perfection. I do many jobs and often times find shortcuts or the easier way to finish which in the end may lack perfection. Our found balance consists of recognizing our different approaches and an appreciation of one another for the way we complete tasks. Oh, and I am learning to try to do a more thorough job in my tasks!

I Corinthians 10:31 tells us that in everything we do, we should do it all for the glory of God. Although each one is created differently and does not have the same abilities, gifts or talents, we can cultivate a heart of thanksgiving for what God has enabled us to do and do it to the best of our ability. Even the mundane tasks from day to day can be done to the glory of God if we give our best from the heart.

  1. THIS was great! I sat for a bit fully KNOWING which group I was in...:) (Get it done...while the love of my life is a do it right kind of guy...)

Thanks for this today...it was a blessing indeed!

  2. Thanks for visiting my blog. I am now following you and so needed this verse today.

  3. Thank you for sharing this. Just to know that He paid such a high price for us, should cause our hearts to always want to give Him our best.

Have a Wonderful Word FIlled Wednesday!!

  4. Amen! Do all for His glory. Thank you for sharing... God bless.

  5. Oh Joyce I loved this. Thanks for sharing this verse and you thoughts. Something great to ponder.
    Have a Blessed Evening,

  6. :0) Yep I'm a get it done and my guy is a do it right. Whatever I do...
    Great encouragement!!

  7. A great verse indeed. In whatever we do, God be glorified.
    Thanks for the visit too.

  8. Amen! I have played that verse over and over in my mind on many a day. I used to get frustrated (well sometimes still do) when my day was spent cleaning...cleaning...caring for others etc. with no reward or even a word of thanks. BUT when I found this verse and started doing things for God's glory it changed everything. I needed this reminder today...thank you for sharing it with us!

  9. Everything that we do is useless if we do not do it for the glory of God. But admittedly, often times, I just do the job, forgetting that it should be offer to the King of Kings. And we are on the same boat, I think I am also a Get it Done and my dear husband is the Do It Right type :D Hmm... don't you think this is God's design to make a wife and a husband compliment each other? Just a thought :D

Blessings to you and to your family!
