Paul prayed this prayer in Ephesians 1:17,18 - “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,”
As Christians in today’s world, we sometimes want to seem like we have it all together and have the Christian walk all figured out. We find that balance where we attend church regularly, volunteer to do church work, tend to our families and live morally pure lives. But as time wears on and we continue on day after day , doing these same things over and over, they may become redundant. The sermons, the prayers, the reading of the Bible become a routine – a good routine, but may lack passion and we may find ourselves lost in the “doing”.
I love finding a verse that sparks a light in my heart and taking that verse and hiding it in my heart and praying it back to God. There is power in hearing, receiving and praying God’s Word. This is one of those verses and my heart’s desire – for God to give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him – that as I go along “doing” all the duties of a Christian that He will bring His Word to life in my heart and show me what He alone can teach me. That He would open the eyes of my understanding and teach me the hope of His calling. There is an abundance of riches and glory as we share God’s Word. May His Word touch you today and open to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in Him.
That is just beautiful, thank you ~

Excellent. I love the idea of praying God's word--which I don't do enough. It's Truth breathed out.
ReplyDeleteI agree, we should not "grow wearing in doing good" but sometimes, we do. Praying God would answer the prayer of your heart!
