Word Filled Wednesday

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!  I enjoy this little holiday with the colors, the food and especially the Irish Blessings!  There is something that makes you feel so good when you read or hear a nice blessing.
Isn’t it wonderful that our Lord has provided abundant blessings for us?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, Ephesians 1:3

It is fascinating to me to research the power of a Biblical blessing.  A spoken blessing is a positive, Biblical statement that invokes the blessing of God in the life of another. The power of spoken blessings comes from God, Who Himself “hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).

Our words have potential to do good or to do harm.  A spoken blessing does good to those who hear it. A prayer of blessing is also powerful. Currently I am reading in Proverbs and pray for blessings for my boys from those verses.  That the Lord would bless them with diligence, integrity, honesty etc.

It has been said that we as Christians are “blessed to be a blessing”.  As we reflect on the richness of God’s blessings, may we seek out opportunities to speak and show through action blessings to those around us.

  12. Wonderful post and picture! I'm a big believer in blessing at least 10 people a day with a kind word, compliment, etc. It makes their day and it makes me feel good! I know that it's b/c God has blessed my life so much that I feel the need to bless others in the best way I know how.

  15. Ooooo, I loved this. Yesterday, when reading the Passover haggadah (order of service) I noticed that it opens with a blessing.

When I took a crash course in Hebrew one summer, I notice then that the Jews say a lot of blessings...

My point is... as Christians, we pray, but how often do we speak a blessing (a positive word) over others?

Will muse on this some more Joyfull... THANKS!

    Happy St. Paddy's Day. :~D

Sometimes We Score, Sometimes We Block

Our family is in the midst of little league soccer season. My youngest son is playing and his enthusiasm is contagious. He is pretty good at the sport, but what makes it so great is that he loves it! He counts the days until the next game or practice. He loves his coach and teammates. He has moved up an age level this year and the players are working more like team, passing to each other and watching out for each other during play. During the last game, my son scored two goals, they were the only goals of the game. In today's game the team scored eight goals. My son came up afterwards to me and said, "I didn't score today, but I blocked". What a powerful truth those words can hold. In life, sometimes we score, sometimes we block. Sometimes we do great things, we excel, we achieve, we meet our goal - we score! There are also times we see the needs of others, sometimes they are sad or hurting, we block their hits. We look out for them so they can score. We

Word Filled Wednesday – Act Justly

He has shown you, O man, what is good;       And what does the LORD require of you                But to do justly, To love mercy,       And to walk humbly with your God?    Micah 6:8 Sometimes we struggle so hard with the question “What does God want us to do and be?”  This verse is a simple yet powerful reminder of some simple things that God requires of us.  Act and do justly, love mercy and walk humbly before God.  There are numerous opportunities each day to do justly, to do the right thing or to make the right choice.  We love mercy when we show kindness or mercy oftentimes to those who do not deserve it.  Walking humbly before God is acknowledging He alone is God.  He is the I AM – no one else is.  When we give Him the glory He is worthy of, it will humble our heart before Him.  Obeying God doesn’t have to be unattainable or impossible, but can be a joyful, beautiful journey as we go by step and follow Him.
