Vote Your Values


The following was shared by the American Family Association and seems like a timely message to pass along for Election Day.

 As you prepare to vote your values, I wanted to pass along a timely quote from our 20th President, James Garfield, as he delivered his centennial speech to Congress in 1876. It is at once an observation, a demand and a prediction:


"Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature. If the next centennial does not find us a great nation it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces."

President Garfield's quote reminds us that you and I are the only ones with the power to change the direction of this country. It is up to you and me. We are responsible. We are to blame. Will we "tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption"? Or will we "demand" intelligence, bravery and purity?

Remember to vote your values tomorrow! AFA Action has compiled a Congressional Scorecard that covers the U.S. House and U.S. Senate on vital pro-family issues in the 111th Congress. The Scorecard also includes voter guides in selected states.


How blessed we are to live in a free country and exercise our right to vote. May we be diligent and prayerful and vote our values.

    I will be prayerfully and eagerly voting tomorrow. It seems SO important to me these days.

    I pray for a revival in this country - a return to the God that we honored in the beginning...

    I liked that Jamers Garfield quote and you are right, we are the ones that can change the course of the way this country goes as we go out to vote. It is so sad more people do not exercise their right to vote.

    will be hitting the polls as early as I can tomorrow. I'm sure it could be a busy time at the polls here in California

    I voted. Now, we will see what God has ordained. After all, He is the one who really changes things! :-)

Our family is in the midst of little league soccer season. My youngest son is playing and his enthusiasm is contagious. He is pretty good at the sport, but what makes it so great is that he loves it! Relationships and Redemption

In every friendship or relationship, there is a common hope that they will grow and flourish. There is something inside of us that longs for a 'happy every after' story. We dream about it and work to make that happen. But in reality, relationships are a challenge. The bridging of values, lifestyles, interests and sacrificing for another are simply hard things to do! No matter how much we dream of the perfect fit, some relationships will not endure the stress.  When differences appear and tensions arise, prayer can change situations, attitudes and ourselves. A Blank Page - A Great Way to Fill It

A blank page - that is the first view of a new blog post. It has been a while since I have faced the blank page of my little blog! A blank page can bring a variety of emotions - emptiness, anxiety, pressure to perform or emotions such as inspiration, encouragement or simply bursting to share something. But there is always something fresh and exciting about the blank page of a New Year. Happy 2023! This is always a time in my life where inspiration and plans are formed and ready to be implemented for greater change. Aspirations may start strong, but alone do not make a difference. It takes consistency to create change. The changing or adding small habits is a key to great changes. A habit that has been beneficial in my life for many years is rising early. It began when the children were small and was the only pocket of time I had to myself. Through the years, mornings have become my favorite time of the day. Now that my husband and I are empty nesters, we go to bed early and rise early.
