Word Filled Wednesday - Rivers of Living Waters

On a recent trip to the mountains, we saw several waterfalls and rushing creeks.  Don't you just love the sound of flowing water?  It brings peace to the soul and beauty to the eyes. I could sit for hours and watch for hours the water that flows with seemingly no ending.

Here is John 7:38 from the Amplified Bible:  "He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water."

I want to be a Christian with a continuous flow of Living Water.  Not stale or stagnant, but vibrant and having a freshness and newness of the Lord's presence always flowing from my mouth, heart and actions.

But as with any cycle, there must be a starting point or place to take in.  This is where reading God's Word, prayer and surrounding myself with godly things comes in.  To give out, it must be first taken in, meditated upon and acted on by sharing in words and actions.   By continually keeping near to the Lord, He will fill us with His Living Water that can flow out of our inner most being.  May we be encouraged to tap into our never ending source of Living Water and allow Him to flow freely through our lives.

  1. Yes! That is so very true. Life springs from life......and Jesus is "the way, the truth and the LIFE!"

  2. I like your words that we must fill ourselves first, before we can let it out (loosely paraphrasing what you said) but indeed we need to be in God's word, reading, praying, meditating, being around fellow believers at church, etc. I too want to be a continuous flow of Living Water; there is a dry world out there that needs to hear and see the Word being displayed!!

  3. I do love the sound and sight of water. I would love to live near water, but I think I will have to wait until Heaven, when the living water is proceding out of the throne. I appreciated your thoughts on how we keep our water from becoming stagnant.

  6. Nicely said. Thank you for reminding me to fill my cup to overflowing before I try to give. Giving from emptiness only end in resentment and burnout.

  9. I laughed...on a recent camping trip we were set up near a rushing stream...about midnight, my son asked, "can someone turn off that running water?" Thankfully there is no turning off that LIVING WATER! What a great post and LOVE the Christmas theme too!! So festive!!

    peace!

  10. This is my first time visiting with you Joyce and I'm sure glad I did.

    What a blessing! ♥

Loved your waterfall pictures (I personally love camping and waterfalls)! And I really love this WFW and it's message.

Truly, may God's Living Water flow effortlessly in and out of us! May we so faithfully share the life of Christ within us, that we need continual filling of His Holy Spirit.

    Bless you dear sister,
    Sunny

Sometimes We Score, Sometimes We Block

Our family is in the midst of little league soccer season. My youngest son is playing and his enthusiasm is contagious. He is pretty good at the sport, but what makes it so great is that he loves it! He counts the days until the next game or practice. He loves his coach and teammates. He has moved up an age level this year and the players are working more like team, passing to each other and watching out for each other during play. During the last game, my son scored two goals, they were the only goals of the game. In today's game the team scored eight goals. My son came up afterwards to me and said, "I didn't score today, but I blocked". What a powerful truth those words can hold. In life, sometimes we score, sometimes we block. Sometimes we do great things, we excel, we achieve, we meet our goal - we score! There are also times we see the needs of others, sometimes they are sad or hurting, we block their hits. We look out for them so they can score. We...

Word Filled Wednesday – Act Justly

He has shown you, O man, what is good;       And what does the LORD require of you                But to do justly, To love mercy,       And to walk humbly with your God?    Micah 6:8 Sometimes we struggle so hard with the question “What does God want us to do and be?”  This verse is a simple yet powerful reminder of some simple things that God requires of us.  Act and do justly, love mercy and walk humbly before God.  There are numerous opportunities each day to do justly, to do the right thing or to make the right choice.  We love mercy when we show kindness or mercy oftentimes to those who do not deserve it.  Walking humbly before God is acknowledging He alone is God.  He is the I AM – no one else is.  When we give Him the glory He is worthy of, it will humble our heart before Him....
