In the homeschool Bible curriculum my son is using, he (we) are memorizing I Corinthians 13. Every morning, we cuddle together on the couch and read this passage together: As we read out loud this characteristics of love again and again, I seek to grasp in my mind and heart and yearn to express this love that is so pure, so good and so selfless.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. I Corinthians 13:4-7
February is a perfect month to meditate on “LOVE”. The more of God’s Word that goes into our hearts, the more of Him that is expressed through our words, actions and attitudes. Although it seems daily I struggle to be patient, kind and practice the ‘does not's of love, I have a hope and belief that His love is continuing to grow in me and through me….and His love never fails.
yes, it's fantastic to look at love! That's great about your son memorizing it, I should do that with my kids for a verse to learn! We've been doing shorter ones, but that would work well for Valentines! thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat verse for the month of February! This is one of my favorite times of the year...concentrating the whole month long on the people and the One whom I love so much!
ReplyDeleteHappy WFW!

What a great way to start the month and a verse I needed to read! Thank you for the great post.
ReplyDeleteI too needed to SEE this one again...sometimes we hear it so often that we forget WHAT it says...seeing it brought it all to mind...patience, kindness, long suffering, no records...LOVE this!
ReplyDeletepeace,
lori
Definitely something that each of our children should learn.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind, what Bible curriculum are you using? :)
Love is hard! Being patient and kind all the time wears a girl out! Love your pictures! Happy WFW!
ReplyDeleteI was reminded by those verses of a poem I once wrote but do not appear to have it in my file.
ReplyDeleteThe one you love belongs to Christ
And stands complete in Him
Here is your hope and here your Joy
When life if cold and grim......etc.
I must find it and put it in the file.....I think the last line is not quite accurate. But it was good to reflect on God's love giving character to those we love.
love that photo...what a beautiful picture of love. Just perfect!
