"This Is Me" - Chasing Beauty

Sometimes, we just want a deeper peek into someone's life! I am all about the details, the more the better! When we learn things about others, we are bound to find a connection and share a common thread. That is how friendships deepen.

It is a true joy to share an encouraging word for women here on the blog, but transparency and opening up real life experiences offer an avenue to connect deeper.

So, today is the first "This Is Me"' post. A real life story from the week about the quest for beautiful hair!

As I age, my grey hair seems to multiply! It is not a devastating issue, but one that is becoming a bit harder to control. For years I've used quick and easy products to cover the grey without doing anything permanent. This has worked for a long time. Then I moved to a semi-permanent solution and found a product I loved. Easy to use with great results. Now it is hard to find.

Stumbling upon a clearance rack this week, was a box of hair color in a beautiful shade for $5.00!  It was permanent, but I decided to give it a try. With the box opened and directions pulled out, I began carefully following the process. Feeling confident, I lathered up the solution, which at the time had no color. After the setting time, I returned to the sink and found deep dark color spots on the bathroom floor, rug and even on my toes! Apparently, not careful enough!

But the hair color is beautiful and next time, more caution will be used!

I read something sweet this week. As women, we love beautiful things. For ourselves, our homes, for taking in all around us.

Beholding beauty transforms us, rearranges the mental furniture of our minds and makes us want to be beautiful.

Jesus is the one who can transform us to reflect His radiance and beauty into the world.  As the Spirit of God whispers our names and calls us to Jesus, God is saying “Come and see how beautiful I AM. Let My beauty wash over your scars and flaws.

Jesus can bring a beauty to our lives that does much more than cover up. His grace and beauty transforms us!

Sometimes We Score, Sometimes We Block

Our family is in the midst of little league soccer season. My youngest son is playing and his enthusiasm is contagious. He is pretty good at the sport, but what makes it so great is that he loves it! He counts the days until the next game or practice. He loves his coach and teammates. He has moved up an age level this year and the players are working more like team, passing to each other and watching out for each other during play. During the last game, my son scored two goals, they were the only goals of the game. In today's game the team scored eight goals. My son came up afterwards to me and said, "I didn't score today, but I blocked". What a powerful truth those words can hold. In life, sometimes we score, sometimes we block. Sometimes we do great things, we excel, we achieve, we meet our goal - we score! There are also times we see the needs of others, sometimes they are sad or hurting, we block their hits. We look out for them so they can score. We...

WFW – Write It On My Heart

This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel       after that time, declares the Lord.    I will put My laws in their minds       and write them on their hearts.    I will be their God,       and they will be My people.  Hebrews 8:10 On a recent field trip to a museum featuring the days gone by, we sat in an old schoolroom as the teacher introduced us to the quill pen and bottle of ink.  She cautioned us to use extreme caution using the ink and told us that if it got on our skin or clothes, it would not come off. This reminded me of this beautiful promise from Hebrews.  God told His people he would put His law in their minds and write it on their hearts.  This is a covenant which cannot be broken.  He loves us and wants us to know Him through His Word.  As we read more and more of His Word, it becomes w...
