Spiritual Sundays

Over at Spiritual Sundays, bloggers gather to share a verse or inspirational post. It is a blessing to give and receive encouragement from God's Word and is a fantastic way to prepare our hearts for Sunday worship.
Do you have a favorite verse that just becomes a part of you? One that you say, pray, think and claim until it is a part of your heart? One of mine is found in Isaiah 40:31 and is a very familiar verse:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint.
This verse has become precious to me as I pray over my husband. He is a hard worker, diligent, honest and works with integrity for which I am extremely thankful. He is also blessed with a good job. My prayers are a source of strength and encouragement to him. There are times when his job becomes extremely stressful and at times I used to feel so helpless as to how to help him. I began praying for strength for him during his work day and as this verse came into my heart, it became a powerful way to help him - not with my help, but with the help of the Lord and the power of His living Word. Each morning I pray for renewed strength for him, for him to be able to walk through his day with energy and stamina with a steady stream of strength from the Lord and when the day brings challenges and stresses which could overwhelm, he keeps on walking and will not faint. There is power in praying God's Word and I am so grateful that He gave me this verse to pray, speak and share.

  1. What a wonderful encouraging message. I love that scripture too. I love the song that has these words in it. We used to sing it when I sang with the choir at the church we were with before we retired. That's a powerful scripture. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate so much that you are the first each week to share. I like the new look for your blog too.
    God bless.

  2. I love that verse, but I oft times am guilty of running ahead rather than waiting on the Lord. Thank you for reminding us.

  4. This truly is a wonderful, uplifting verse. Your husband is blessed by you and your prayers. Author, Ken Gire prays beautiful prayers. I put one of his on my blog for Spiritual Sunday. You may want to take a look at it. It follows his chapter on tears in his book, Windows of the Soul.

  6. So many times people say I don't know what to do or it's out of my hands! Your doing the most important thing putting it in Gods hands and praying for your husband.

  8. Hi Joyfull,
I'm just now catching up on my spiritual sundays, thank you sharing your heart and thoughts in this post. My life scripture is Neh 8:10 The Joy of the Lord will be your strength, boy this scripture has seen me through the most darkest moments in my life. I know with his strength within us nothing is impossible, the power of prayer gives us the strength to soar above our circumstances.

    Blessings Lorie

Sometimes We Score, Sometimes We Block

Our family is in the midst of little league soccer season. My youngest son is playing and his enthusiasm is contagious. He is pretty good at the sport, but what makes it so great is that he loves it! He counts the days until the next game or practice. He loves his coach and teammates. He has moved up an age level this year and the players are working more like team, passing to each other and watching out for each other during play. During the last game, my son scored two goals, they were the only goals of the game. In today's game the team scored eight goals. My son came up afterwards to me and said, "I didn't score today, but I blocked". What a powerful truth those words can hold. In life, sometimes we score, sometimes we block. Sometimes we do great things, we excel, we achieve, we meet our goal - we score! There are also times we see the needs of others, sometimes they are sad or hurting, we block their hits. We look out for them so they can score. We

Relationships and Redemption

In every friendship or relationship, there is a common hope that they will grow and flourish. There is something inside of us that longs for a 'happy every after' story. We dream about it and work to make that happen. But in reality, relationships are a challenge. The bridging of values, lifestyles, interests and sacrificing for another are simply hard things to do! No matter how much we dream of the perfect fit, some relationships will not endure the stress.  When differences appear and tensions arise, prayer can change situations, attitudes and ourselves. For the Christian, we know God can transform, change, heal. We cannot change others, but prayer opens us the door for God to step in and answer. God desires transformation, but does not demand it. The gift of free will allows us to choose to say Yes or No to Him.  Romans 12:18 says, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” Take notice of the first two words: “If possible …” This implies that some
