The Joy of Summer’s End

Although summer offers a season of fun, here in the deep south, it seems to last forever!  One of the signs of summer’s end around here is when we clean up the property.
Look how  in summer, the grass and weeds really grow!

My oldest son began the big clean up by mowing our field:

Then once the grass was mowed and the ground harrowed up, we made a spot for a fall garden:

This weekend we planted broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, mustard greens and a few herbs.  Getting the seed into the ground and eagerly ready to tend to the garden brought me much joy this week!

    I guess I really am a city girl - I honestly had no idea that you planted gardens in the fall! Imagine that. Learn something new every day:)

    so much green!! and lots of land!! How fun to have a fall garden; never really thought about things growing in the fall, but of course in the south it indeed could!

Relationships and Redemption

In every friendship or relationship, there is a common hope that they will grow and flourish. There is something inside of us that longs for a 'happy every after' story. We dream about it and work to make that happen. But in reality, relationships are a challenge. The bridging of values, lifestyles, interests and sacrificing for another are simply hard things to do!
