This August marked the beginning of homeschooling for my family. Since this is new and a vitally important part of daily life, I am often wondering about my nine year old, “Did he get it, are the lessons sinking in…etc.”
One day this week, we were outside and he came running up to tell me, “Come look at this spider, she has prey!” So, our science lessons about insects came alive as we got up close and personal with Mrs. Spider and of course took pictures!
Usually insects do not bring me joy, but the look of awe on a little boy’s face as we watched nature unfold sure did!
That is an orb spider, isn't it? They are so cool. Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteShe has prey!! I love it:) Homeschooling is so full of wonderful moments - just like that! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteAh...things I miss from my homeschooling days. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the things we find the joy in! How unexpectedly joyful!
ReplyDeleteHow that must have blessed and encouraged you!
ReplyDeleteI would say you are really a step ahead of the game is you are already understanding that sometimes LEARNING is more important than worksheets. Not that worksheets aren't important, but sometimes we can focus too much on crossing something off a list instead of letting the world unfold before our eyes. Good for you! Great moment.
ReplyDeleteOh how cool is that. I really don't like spiders, but have to say this one has beautiful markings.
